Pretty Vases: Reversible Bud Vase Workshop with Colleen McCall

$50.00

Workshop Description:

Join us at azure arts studio for a two-hour specialty workshop with guest artist Colleen McCall. Colleen is a full-time studio potter and teaching artist specializing in creating vibrant floral patterns on her handmade pottery. Her inspiration varies from natural, realistic blooms to stylized abstract florals. Vintage textiles, wall coverings, and historical depictions of flowers from all over the world are all part of the mix to create fresh, functional, heirloom-quality dinnerware, home, and garden decor.

Learn how to transfer an image or pattern to the leather-hard surface using your own inspiration or one of Colleen's patterns. Choose your own colors. paint as you wish and finish with carved sgraffito lines that reveal the dark brown clay beneath. The resulting piece is fired at the studio with clear glaze.

Please note we are working with greenware (raw unfired clay), which is more fragile than painting bisque ware (clay that has been fired once). Only one item is prepared in advance per person and should be handled delicately. For this reason, the recommended minimum age for this workshop is 14. All materials will be provided. Consider bringing an apron or wearing your play clothes, as the clay and underglazes can stain clothing.

Date: Friday, May 15, 2026, from 6-8 p.m.

Experience Level: This workshop is beginner-friendly.

Fee: $50 per student
