Class Description: In this class, we’ll do fun projects that explore and investigate all the ways to hand-build with clay. From pinch pots to long coil snakes, using flat slabs of clay, and modeling, kids will build skills to work with clay in every way. Hand-painting, glazing, using texture, stamping, methods of changing the surface, and decorating pieces will be incorporated throughout this 8-week class. Previous experience working with clay is not required. Suggested age: 5-10 years old.
Dates: Thursdays, September 25th - November 13th, 4-5:30 p.m.
Class Fee: $248. All tools, clay, firing, and glazing are included in the class fee.
Optional Tool Kits: The studio will provide all required tools. However, if you prefer, individual pottery tool kits for hand-building and wheel throwing can be purchased from the studio. Students may also bring their own set of tools. The two options for kits available for purchase from the studio are as follows:
Essentials Kit: An assortment of tools needed for hand-building, throwing, and trimming. ($15)
Premium Kit: A curated kit including the tools in the essentials kit above and additional tools found to be helpful as students begin their pottery journey. The selection is also the most loved by first-time students here at the studio! ($35)
Private Class with Registration: Want a jump start? Add an optional private lesson scheduled before the first class or anytime within the first six weeks. This session is two hours of 1:1 instruction guiding you through the basics of wheel throwing or a particular technique you would like to work more intensely on. Fee: $140
