Class Description:

As the world starts to dim with the change of the seasons, and the evenings seem longer, let’s turn to making warm and cozy things! Join us for this class making lanterns, luminaries, and candle holders. Learn to throw beautiful shapes and forms that lend themselves to casting a warm glow. We’ll explore methods for creating eye-catching pierced designs and for extending the beauty of your pieces with surface decoration. Students must have some experience with wheel throwing, including the fundamentals of centering and pulling basic forms and cylinders. Adults aged 18 and over.

Dates: (4 weeks) Wednesdays, October 21st – November 11th, 6-8:30 p.m.

Required tools: A basic pottery tool kit and X-Acto knife.

Optional tools:Two to three hardboard, Medex, or other 12” bats, or a bat system such as those made by StudioPro, Northstar, or Dirty Girls.

Class fee: $158 including several pounds of stoneware clay and firing. Additional clay and firing are available for purchase. Porcelain clay is also available. Please choose the porcelain clay upgrade with class option for this clay body. NEW! You may now pay for the class and available options in full or choose the bi-weekly payment plan!

Open Studio Membership: Access to the studio for students enrolled in private or 4-week classes during the current session. Includes: 4 weeks of full access during open studio hours and use of all equipment, including pottery wheels, a slab roller, table space, and community tools. Fee: $60
