Girl Scout Fun Patch Workshop
Kids LOVE clay! (And getting messy!)
We’ll teach your Girl Scouts or Brownie troop to work with clay while making fun projects that stretch their imagination, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and enrich their creativity! In each workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of working with clay.
Choose from one of two methods of working with clay: hand-building or wheel throwing. Groups interested in hand-building can make sculptural artwork or explore methods of making a more functional piece that can be used daily. Participants will paint all pieces in the color palettes of their choosing.
Groups may gravitate toward making a pot on the potter's wheel, an opportunity not always available in schools or earlier than high school. Wheel thrown pots will be finished and glazed after the workshop's conclusion. All pieces made in the workshop will then be fired in the ceramic kiln (twice!).
This two-hour workshop includes all materials, the finishing, glazing, and firing of one piece to keep. The entire process, from start to finish, will take four to five weeks before pieces are ready to send home. Final pieces can be picked up in person at the studio, or shipping of the finished pieces can be arranged (shipping is not included in the workshop fee).
The fee for this all-inclusive, immersive workshop is $45 per child. Limit ten children (minimum of four) for wheel throwing (ages eight and up only) and twelve children (minimum of six) for hand building (ages six and up).
This program is approved through the NYPENN Girl Scout Council. Each participant will receive an exclusive azure arts fun patch at the conclusion of the workshop.
