Class Description: Come learn about clay with us and get a little messy in the process. This class will focus on working with clay on and off the potter’s wheel! Whether this class is an introduction to or a continuation of your child’s experience working with clay, we will explore the handbuilding processes that form the foundation of all functional, decorative, and sculptural forms. Students will also spend time on the potter’s wheel learning completely different clay-making methods! Various ways to decorate pots and glaze them will be introduced. Learn all the essentials of working with clay, from the very beginning to finishing pots, in this comprehensive class designed specifically for ages 8-14. Previous experience working with clay is not required.
Dates: (8 weeks) Wednesdays, September 23rd – November 11th, 4-5:30 p.m.
Class Fee: $248 including all clay, materials, tools, and firings.
Optional Tool Kits: The studio will provide all required tools. However, if you prefer, individual pottery tool kits for hand-building and wheel throwing can be purchased from the studio. Students may also bring their own set of tools. The two options for kits available for purchase from the studio are as follows:
Essentials Kit: An assortment of tools needed for hand-building, throwing, and trimming. ($15)
Premium Kit: A curated kit including the tools in the Essentials Kit above and additional tools found to be helpful as students begin their pottery journey. The selection is also the most loved by first-time students here at the studio! ($35)
