Fall Adult Wheel Throwing Class: Beginner & Intermediate
Class Description:
In this 8-week class, learn the fundamental techniques of making wheel-thrown pots. Students new to pottery will learn to make the essential forms that are the foundation of all pottery, including bowls, cylinders, and mugs. Carving and glazing techniques will also be introduced. Students with one or more classes who wish to continue refining, revisiting, or honing fundamental skills are also welcome. New forms will be introduced and demonstrated to those who have taken this class in prior sessions, based on their expertise and experience. Previous experience is not required for this class. Adults aged 18 and over.
Dates: (8 weeks) Thursdays, September 24th – November 12th, 6-8:30 pm.
Class fee: $315 including several pounds of stoneware clay and firing. Additional clay and firing are available for purchase. NEW! You may now pay for the class and available options in full or choose the bi-weekly payment plan!
Required tools: A basic pottery tool kit for wheel throwing.
Students may bring their own tools, but two different kits are available for purchase from the studio.
• Essentials Kit: An assortment of tools needed for throwing and trimming. ($15)
• Premium Kit: A curated kit including the tools in the Essentials Kit above and additional tools found to be helpful as students begin their pottery journey. The selection is also the most loved by first-time students here at the studio! ($35)
Intermediate-level students may also want a selection of trimming tools, ribs, 2-3 12” hardboard or Medex bats. These tools are available for purchase at the studio. An optional tool is a bat system made by StudioPro, North Star, or Dirty Girls.
Open Studio Membership:
Access to the studio for students enrolled in private or 8-week classes during the current session in which they are enrolled. Includes: 8 weeks of full access during open studio hours and use of all equipment, including wheels, a slab roller, an extruder, table space, and community tools. Fee: $120
